About our Christmas Recital:

Join us and celebrate the magic of Dance this Christmas! We are thrilled to announce that The School of Dance will be holding our first ever Christmas Recital! Each class will learn and perform one dance on stage. If you decide to opt out of the Christmas Recital, you can still attend your weekly dance class and be apart of our Showcase Recital in the Spring. The recital will feature a diverse range of dance styles, including ballet, tap, hip-hop and pom. Dress rehearsal will be held on the morning of the show at Highland Elementary School.

Dress Rehearsal

Date: Saturday, December 9th, 2023

Time: 10:00 AM

We will be holding a dress rehearsal on the same day as the recital, starting at 10:00 AM. It is crucial for all performers to attend the dress rehearsal, as it ensures that everything runs smoothly during the actual show. Please make sure your dancer arrives with plenty of time to prepare for the rehearsal. The lineup or order of the show will be made available on our website during the weeks leading up to the event. Dress Rehearsal is a great practice tool for our dancers to get comfortable on stage. We will begin by reviewing the finale at the start of the dress rehearsal, then each dance will go through their routine twice, allowing them to fine-tune their acts and gain confidence in their performance. For Dress Rehearsal, we kindly request that a parent or guardian be present with your child. Please refrain from dropping off your dancer and leaving unaccompanied. After your child has performed their dance on stage twice, you are welcome to depart from the dress rehearsal with your child and return later for the main show.

Tickets

Please follow the link to secure your Christmas Recital Tickets. Tickets will be $10.00 Ea. Dancers do not have to purchase a ticket. Please note that seating will be open, so you'll have the flexibility to choose your preferred seats on a first-come, first-served basis.

Recital FAQs:

Can I take photos/ video record my child onstage?

ABSOLUTELY! You are welcome to take pictures and record your dancer(s) on stage! We do ask that you are considerate of other audience members. The best time to record video’s and take pictures is at Dress Rehearsal.

Does my child have to stay for the entire Recital show?

We wholeheartedly encourage all our dancers to stay for the entire Recital show. We would love for all of our dancers to take part in the End Finale, which allows students to celebrate as a family and take their final bows together! With that being said our 3 year old classes always preform first because we know they can get a little antsy sitting in the audience. :)

If I volunteer to help backstage, will I get to see my child perform?

YES! Parents can watch their dancers’ performance(s) from the side of the stage!

Why do we pay for Recital tickets?

There are a lot of expenses associated with putting on a Recital: auditorium rental, scenery & lighting, custodial fees, sound and light technician, insurance, ticket/program printing, etc. These expenses add up! Without admission fees, the studio would not have the means to put on a yearly show. Many Dance Studios charge a recital fee, but we do not; only the cost of tickets!

Are dancers required to wear make-up for the Recital performance?

It’s not required but we encourage a little “stage make-up”. Dancers wear make-up on stage to enhance their facial features, which can be washed-out under the bright stage lighting.
