Welcome to Mrs. Marcelle’s School of Dance!
We’re glad you are here! At The School of Dance we create a positive and safe environment that encourages growth!
Below are our Studio Policies to keep you properly informed. When enrolling your child, you are agreeing to comply with these policies and procedures.
Attendance
Ensuring consistent attendance is of utmost importance as it plays a vital role in maintaining the progression of each dance class and facilitating the choreography process. When enrolling in a class, it is essential to understand that it entails a commitment. We strongly advise minimizing absences to ensure optimal progress. Please be aware that tuition payments are not prorated for missed classes.
It is crucial to note that all dancers aged 7 and above are required to attend the mandatory May classes. Failure to attend any of these classes toward the end of the year may necessitate a placement adjustment for your student's stage performance. Students who miss classes at the end of the season (April-June) or who cannot attend their dress rehearsal may be asked to not participate in the recital, to be fair to the other students and to instructors.
Withdrawals
In the event that a student needs to withdraw from the season before its completion, we kindly request a 30-day notice to be provided to Mrs. Marcelle. This advance notice allows us to manage class enrollments effectively and make necessary adjustments.
Photography/Video Release:
I understand and release to Mrs. Marcelle’s School of Dance the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use, reproduce, and publish photographs and/or videos of my child for editorial, trade, advertising, or any other purpose or manner and medium. I hereby release Mrs. Marcelle’s School of Dance and its owner, administrative staff and instructors from any and all claims, actions, and liability relating to its use of said photographs. Any exception/objection must be submitted via email to mrsmarcelleschoolofdance@gmail.com prior to the start of each season so we can proactively prevent photos/videos from being taken of your child.
Weather Closing Policy
In the event of inclement weather and/or poor road conditions, classes may be canceled for the safety of our students. If the decision to cancel classes is made, we will send out a text message to let families know, a minimum of 60 minutes prior to the start of class. You can also visit the website or check social media to receive weather updates. As weather related closings are outside of the control of the Studio, we do not credit, refund, or prorate tuition for classes canceled due to inclement weather. Students are welcome to request a make-up class for weather related closings
Observation Day
Observation Day is scheduled for the final week of each month. To optimize the dancers' experience, we kindly request that audience presence be limited to this designated day. Having a constant audience throughout the week can potentially hinder the dancers' immersion and imagination.
We kindly ask for your understanding that the presence of observers in the classroom during Observation Day may elicit varied responses from the dancers. In order to maintain a focused environment, we request that conversations be kept to a minimum during class. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Student Drop Off & Pick-Up
To respect the time of our teachers and staff members, we kindly request your compliance with the following guidelines regarding drop-offs and pick-ups:
Students should not be dropped at the studio more than 10 minutes before the start time of their class.
Students should be picked up promptly following their classes.
For safety reasons, we ask our students to wait inside the studio space for their parents or guardians to arrive.
In the event of running late, we kindly request that you refrain from interrupting the ongoing class.
Dress Code
Please assist us in having your student adhere to the dress code:
We kindly request the following guidelines to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable dance experience:
Hair should be neatly pulled up and away from the face to ensure clear visibility and prevent any distractions during the class.
Properly fitted dance shoes are essential for both performance and safety. Please make sure your child wears shoes that allow for comfortable and easy movement. If a different size is needed, please text Marcelle at least one day before class or let your dance teacher know during class. The correct size will be provided the following week.
Dance shoes should never be worn outside the studio. We have a strict policy: no outside shoes on the dance floor and no dance shoes worn outdoors. This helps maintain the quality of our floors and ensures a safe, clean space where students can move and stretch freely.
To maintain a safe and focused dance environment, we kindly ask that students refrain from wearing any jewelry that may cause distractions or pose a risk of snagging during their classes. This includes items such as necklaces, bracelets, or dangling earrings.
Dancers are not permitted to wear jeans.
Acceptable attire includes leggings, shorts, tights, a leotard, and an optional skirt.
Loose sweats are allowed for hip-hop classes only.
For tap and ballet classes, please ensure clothing allows clear visibility of your feet, knees, and hands. Shirts or sweaters that cover the hands are not allowed.
For our younger dancers we encourage dancers to wear fun and fabulous outfits that make them feel like princesses. However, we kindly request that these outfits do not contain glitter. While glitter may be a favorite color for some, it can be challenging to clean and creates a slippery surface under tap shoes, which may pose a safety risk.
Dance Shoe Trade System
Once you make a purchase of dance shoes from Mrs. Marcelle, she offers a unique benefit. She will facilitate an ongoing shoe exchange program, allowing you to trade your dancer's shoes for the next size up whenever necessary, indefinitely. It is important to note that the exchanged shoes will be gently used, as they have been previously worn by other dancers.
This exclusive service ensures that your dancer will always have properly fitting dance shoes as they grow and progress in their training. Mrs. Marcelle is dedicated to providing continuous support and ensuring the comfort and suitability of your dancer's footwear throughout their dance journey.
Dance Shoe Pricing | Tap Shoes: $25.00, Ballet Shoes: $20.00, Hip-Hop Shoes: $45.00
Registration Fee
To reserve a spot for your child in the class, a non-refundable registration fee of $150 is required. This fee is mandatory for all students. It covers the cost for the first month of dance, typically October. If you choose to enroll in multiple classes, the $150 registration fee still applies once, but you’ll also need to pay the first month’s tuition for any additional classes. We will help calculate everything for you and include a full breakdown in the registration email that will be sent to you after you register. If you are enrolling your child in a Pre Ballet Class, the registration fee includes the cost of their first pair of ballet shoes. Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable, and it is necessary to secure your child's place in class. Please complete your registration payment as soon as possible using Zelle. Our phone number linked for Zelle payments is: (541)410-4175. Be sure to include your child’s name + “registration” in the memo line. If you would like to pay by check, please make checks payable to The School of Dance and include your child’s name + "registration" in the memo line. How to pay: Check/Zelle
The tuition fee is structured as an annual amount, conveniently divided into installments for ease of payment. Please note that despite variations in the length of certain months, the full tuition amount will still be required. We kindly request that tuition payments be made promptly and in accordance with the agreed-upon schedule. We kindly request that all parents making their payments via Zelle set up automatic payments for the 1st of each month. By utilizing Zelle and enabling automatic payments, we aim to streamline the payment process for your convenience and ensure timely and hassle-free transactions. Late payments will incur a $5.00 fee if not received by the 5th of the month. Please note that tuition payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of factors such as class attendance.
